In line with the general policy and public demand for greater transparency of governmental institutions, the Dutch ministry of health, welfare and sport ('Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport') owns a number of websites that are open to the public and several special interest groups.

The purpose of these websites is mainly to give access to large quantities of information that are present within the ministry or within related institutions. The task of categorizing and managing the quality of these information sources is daunting and expensive, yet necessary to meet the demands for transparency.
DNV-CIBIT helped this ministry by introducing advanced technology to automate the categorization and profiling of information and by fine-tuning the configuration of a state-of-the-art search engine. Combined with the implementation of processes for operations and management, a durable solution was reached, offering the ministry benefits in terms of both efficiency and quality. The great value of this accomplishment was reflected in a second place in a national contest of 'most ergonomic websites'. |
