BIM manages its knowledge
Innovation
As part of its aim to innovate working practices, Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) has been examining how to best manage its knowledge. Therefore they have introduced several tools. BIM also requested DNV-CIBIT to undertake an audit of its knowledge management practices to date and to propose a strategy.

 Developing Ireland's Seafood Resource
BIM is the Irish State agency with responsibility for developing the Irish Sea Fishing and Aquaculture industries. BIM's aim is to promote the sustainable development of the Irish seafood industry at sea and ashore and support its diversification in the coastal regions so as to enhance the contribution of the sector to employment, income and welfare.
Knowledge management strategy
Since early 2005 BIM has introduced a new document management system, intranet, file nomenclature protocols, etc. Towards the end of that year, BIM requested DNV-CIBIT to undertake an audit of its knowledge management practices to date and to propose a strategy for the period 2006-2008. DNV-CIBIT's report and recommendations now form a focus for BIM's knowledge management strategy that will support ongoing innovation. |
