Developing Knowledge-based SystemsThe environment in which knowledge-intensive companies operate today is complex and changes constantly. To operate effectively in such an environment requires a good deal of knowledge and experience. Standard information systems only partially support employees in their job. The information system only supplies the data needed for carrying out complex decision-making processes. An expert must then carry out these knowledge-intensive processes.
