Data Vault Seminar with Dan Linstedt

23rd, 24th & 25th of June 2008

Unique Opportunity
We offer you the unique possibility to learn from the founding father of Data Vault, Dan Linstedt himself. As a result of a unique partnership with Genesee Academy, DNV Academy is now able to offer this 3-day course in the Netherlands.

Aligning IT and business
Data Vault gives you the ability to adapt quickly, model the business accurately and scale with the business needs – aligning IT and the business to meet the corporate goals. The Data Vault is a data integration architecture; a series of standards and definitional elements or methods through which information is connected within an RDBMS data store in order to make sense of it.

Hands-on experience
This 3-day course gives you hands-on experience with Data Vault Modeling. The programme covers both the business and technical details of the Data Vault modeling architecture.

Certification exam

Business and technical perspective
The course starts with exploring the Data Vault modeling concepts from the business perspective: from why they exist and what needs they serve to their impact on the business. We discuss the benefits, issues and business applicability of using the Data Vault Data Modeling techniques. The technical part of the course covers topics such as Hubs, Links and Satellites along with loading and querying.

In-depth
We provide in-depth information around the do's and don'ts (best practices) of Data Vaults. The primary purpose of this course is to prepare you for certification in Data Vault Modeling. We discuss the technical details of Data Vaults including business rules, delta detection, date stamping, staging, point-in-time tables and querying (converting data from the Vault into star schemas or report collections).

Target Audience
Enterprise Architects, Data Warehouse architects, designers, data modelers, data integration (e.g. ETL) consultants and developers, Business Intelligence architects, Report Designers, Database Architects and Database Administrators involved in data warehouse environments.

English Spoken
All course materials are written in English. The presentations will also be held in English. Two of the workshop facilitators also speak Dutch.

Lab Work
The lab work is dispersed among the course topics, and includes developing a Data Vault data model (in teams), finding errors in the models and defining elements for use in the Data Vault structures.
